I am an experienced psychotherapist.  I can help you to live a fuller life, with more zest, more depth and more intelligence.  Troubles are invitations to see yourself more clearly, to help you change how you are living, and to deepen yourself so that you can make the most of your life.  It's not easy work, therapy, and it probably won't be quick—though, usually, you'll feel better immediately—but it's is one of most fascinating and rewarding activities that we can do.

The  trend today is away from traditional psychotherapy and toward problem-solving, drugs and advice-giving.   I think these are a mistake—a band-aid when something serious is required.  There's more to life than problems and obliteration, and more to therapy than solving problems and learning to avoid what's important.    What about your urge toward happiness, self-knowledge, fulfillment and growth—the reasons you are alive?

Psychotherapy goes at things by teaching you about yourself, and through this self-knowledge, you become a better person, closer to your wishes, abilities, and intents.  Therapy helps you to know yourself and shows you how you can do something about your life with you knowledge of yourself and your ability to act.

My way of doing therapy is in-depth and present-centered.  We will be looking at you and your life as we explore the things which are most important to you. My method is an active one.  I’ll give you all the room you need to discover yourself, but I won’t leave you in a vacuum where you have to guess what I think.

The first question I am asked is usually about insurance.
I am a licensed psychologist and I will give you a statement and you can submit it to your carrier for reimbursement.   I don't know a first-ranked therapist "in network" with insurance companies.   It is not worth my time to see you for the pittance most carriers will give me and the surveillance trouble they make for me (and you).       All therapists do not all do the same thing:  training differs, and so does experience.  it's not a franchise, where the burgers are identical.  My approach is not the usual one.   I am sometimes willling to negotiate a lower fee than my usual one (of $185 a meeting), though I will want to see you to talk about it.  It is not something I will do on the phone.

This site also serves as a resource for therapists and students for my professional writings in gestalt therapy.  I have posted all I possess, and I will continue  to assemble them until I have posted a complete set.  There are a total of about fifty articles.  The Gestalt Bibliography shows eighteen papers, letters and other items, and my CV  lists several dozen more.
